A local school division was reported as having losses for the second quarter of the 2023-24 school division fiscal year, one of two losses in the province according to the Friday afternoon release.

The Living Sky School Division reported a total loss of $15,152, after a school employee allegedly misappropriated funds, sometime between September 2022 to December 2022.

"The employee has been terminated from their position. The matter was reported to the RCMP. The school division has increased the frequency of internal audits and is implementing new online software for accepting fees and payments in order to reduce the volume of cash handled in the schools"

The other loss being reported according to the government, saw the Board of Education of Regina Roman Catholic Separate School Division No. 81 reporting a loss of public money in the amount of $9,600. That came after twelve laptops were stolen from the school division, as the employee suspected to be involved was terminated and RCMP investigation continued.
