March of 2020, just before Canada started to deal with the affects of COVID 19, was the last time that the Luseland Arts Council has been able to put a live performance together for their community. That 19 month streak without music in the Homecoming Hall ends Friday evening when they host their first show with Alberta couple 'Over the Moon' taking to the stage.

Jean Halliday is the President of the Luseland Arts Council, and she says that there has already been a buzz around the community well before the show.

"People are pretty excited to have the show coming and the advanced tickets have been good sales so far, so we're optimistic." Halliday continued, "The last concert we had was our 40th anniversary show back in January of 2020 and we had the Romantics and directly after that show was over the pandemic hit and we haven't had a show since."

The music coming to Luseland tonight promises to be a unique show. Halliday says she's excited that this specific group is coming to bring music back to their community.

"Over the Moon are a couple out of Alberta. They do from Appalachian music to kind of swing country. They're an easygoing cultural kind of show. It's like they're in your living room, and so very personable pair they, do some amazing work on stringed instruments. So a really interesting evening."

With everything sort of shutting down and constant changing restrictions, bringing live music back to smaller communities has not been an easy task. Luckily for the Luseland Arts Council, they've had a lot help and guidance from provincial organizations to make sure that they can bring that music and life back to some of our communities.

"Well with through the provincial office through OSAC (Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils), they've done huge amounts of work to reschedule and get concerts booked in, and then they also have sent out all the protocols and things we have to follow. So as long as we follow those, yeah the show is good to go."

While tickets were sold in advance, you can still buy them at the door if you plan on attending. Masks must be worn and proof of vaccination or a negative COVID 19 test from the last 72 hours must be provided as well.

"We would often have 100 to 150 people on the show. So I guess we'll see what the pandemic has done to the show for this Friday, but hopefully we have a good turn out."
