Jackson Sitter is a Grade 12 student from Leader Composite school. Sitter competed in ‘The Quad’ in this years track and field provincials.

The Quad, consists of four events, the 100 meter run, shot put, long jump, and the 800 meter run. Best scores from each of the events are taken are totalled. The Quad winner is the competitor who has accumulated the most points throughout the four events.

Sitter has been going to provincials since grade 9, usually for jumping events; Triple Jump, Long Jump and High Jump. Although this was Sitters first year competing in the quad, he came out on top, breaking the previous record.

“After shot put I knew I was getting close, but was still 30 points behind past winners so I knew I’d have to run a good 800 meter to have a chance at breaking the record.”

Sitter reported than on top of his big win, his school had a better showing than he’d ever recalled seeing. They sent 5 students to provincials this year.

Sitter wishes to thank his coaches and parents for helping him in this achievement. He credits the school and community for all their support as well.

Plans to attend the UofS in the fall to study Kinesiology are in Sitter’s future.
