Despite the rain trying to put a damper on the festivities, the community of Kyle came together over the past weekend to celebrate its centennial anniversary and the 47 annual rodeo.

The celebratory weekend kicked off with a rodeo family dance and a baseball game on Friday where the host Kyle Yellow Jackets took down the Kindersley Cubs 5-2.

Amber Dashney, the administrator for the Town of Kyle, noted that the celebrations drew people from all over the globe.

“It was a really good turnout,” she stated. “There were people from all over, like Alaska, Texas, and Bermuda, that came home for the weekend. We had a really good turnout Friday.”

Although dreary weather was in the forecast for Saturday, it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm in the community.

“On Saturday, we did have not-so-great weather, but we had a huge turnout for our parade,” Dashni elaborated. "There would have been over 20 floats for sure, and it was really nice to see everybody put in effort for our little town.”

One main attraction of the weekend was the 47th annual CCA rodeo, which took place on both Saturday and Sunday.

Despite the rain and slick arena on Saturday, the rodeo remained a resounding success. The stock provided by the Prairie Rodeo Company added an extra layer of excitement to the event.

While the rodeo took center stage, the town ensured there was something for everyone. The slo-pitch tournament and beach volleyball tournament attracted participants of all ages, despite the heavy rain on Saturday.

Kyle also celebrated its rich history with a downtown history walk and exhibits at the museum included a collection of antique farm equipment, a schoolhouse, war memorabilia, and more.

The rink was transformed into a visual journey through the town's history, with images of graduates, sports teams, and personal artifacts on display.

"The town was super busy regardless of the weather, and then Sunday was a really nice day, and the rodeo was full, I think overall, it was a really good weekend,” Dashni concluded.
