It's a monumental upcoming weekend for the Town of Kyle with three days of jam-packed with activities.

The community will celebrate their 100th birthday in conjunction with their 47th annual rodeo.

Festivities begin on Friday morning with a free pancake breakfast. Later that day and for the first time, the CCA will host a bull riding competition that's followed by a rodeo dance with Bakersfield performing.

Most of the centennial celebrations happen on Saturday which begins at 7 a.m. with another free breakfast followed by a parade.

"For the centennial celebrations, we've got a come-and-go area in our lobby at the sports centre, it will be open all weekend," Brittany Marshall, the director for the Kyle & District Recreation Board, said. "The town of Kyle is shutting down the main street on Saturday after the parade and there will be some games for kids and a bouncy castle."

The CCA rodeo will host their first performance at 5 p.m. on Saturday with 13 events on the docket plus a kids (seven and under) mutton busting at intermission.

"We have like 30 saddle bronc riders, so that was surprising to us," she said. "It will be long, but it will be a very good rodeo."

A centennial dance closes out the events on Saturday setting the table for a final day on Sunday.

Activities are a bit sparser on Sunday but include a third straight free breakfast, the second and final CCA Rodeo performance, and a centennial supper at Elks Hall.
