A large crowd came out to watch the Kindersley civic election candidate forum last night at the Norman Ritchie Centre. Almost every seat in the auditorium was taken with some attendees standing. The evening started with the candidates being introduced to the public.

The candidates running for council are as follows:
  • Randy Irvine
  • Gary Becker
  • Tammy Anderson-Jackson
  • Rob Cote
  • James Garland
  • Christopher Douglas
  • Shaun Henry
  • Scott Faulds
  • Ken Francis
  • Elyse Moss
  • Rob Gilmour

The candidates had a chance to introduce themselves, and present their platforms during the evening.
Each candidate running for council was given one minute for opening remarks, and to answer the questions from moderator Monte Sheppard, as well as inquiries from residents in attendance. Questions were broad and not directed at specific candidates, as all those running had a chance to respond.

After the councillor session, the Mayoral candidates gave statements of their own.
Tom Morris and Rodney Perkins are the candidates running for mayor of Kindersley. Morris has been serving as the president of the Kindersley Chamber of Commerce, and Perkins is an accountant in Kindersley.
The Mayoral candidates had two minutes to respond to each question, and give their speeches.

Topics that were discussed by the candidates during the evening included the pool situation in Kindersley, composting/garbage/recycling programs, crime, attracting businesses, city status in Kindersley, taxes and living expenses.

Advance poll voting runs today from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Kindersley Town Office.
Kindersley’s municipal election will be held on Wednesday, October 26th. Polls will be placed at Elizabeth School’s gymnasium from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on election day.
