Kindersley held the Braingo Tango fundraiser this weekend, which helped to raise money for a wheelchair accessible playground at Westberry School.

The event was comprised of a dinner, dance, and silent auction. During the dance, some live entertainment was provided in the form of the Lloydminister band One Cent Melon.

Darlene May, the President of the Kindersley Royal Purple, who helped put on this event, shared what kind of auction items were available.

“There was a TV, there was a bear statue, there were gift certificates, there was bath products, there was a doll there, there was some vases. There was some tools, sweatshirts, t-shirts, water bottles.”

While they don’t have a final total on the amount of money raised, May estimates that they were able to collect at least $3,000, and were already able to give $1,000 to the Westberry Playground project earlier in the year.

May also expressed her gratitude towards those who were able to make their way to the event, as well as to everyone who supported the campaign in other ways.

“They were awesome this year. We had so much, even cash donations, and all the prizes, we had probably a third more than what we had last year, so they were really good.”

The event was put together with help from the Kindersley branch of Saskatchewan Royal Purple. Royal Purple is an organization that provides support for community events wherever they need it.
