Kindersley RCMP announced on Wednesday morning that official charges have been laid stemming from the early morning collision on November 5 in Kindersley, that resulted in three confirmed injuries.

Investigation lead to an arrest back on November 17, as 25-year-old Austin Heid from Kindersley was charged with the following, along with driving without a registration and valid license:

  • one count, possession of methamphetamine, Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;
  • one count, possession of cocaine, Section 4(1), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, operation while impaired causing bodily harm, Section 320.14(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, failure to comply with demand causing bodily harm, Section 320.15(2), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing bodily harm, Section 320.13(2), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, failure to stop after accident resulting in bodily harm, Section 320.16(2), Criminal Code.

The police report states that Heid, the adult male driver of the car, initially left the scene of the collision before being transported to hospital. Responding officers would later locate and seize approximately 79 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 5 grams of cocaine, and a sum of cash in the car.

Updated reports show the adult female passenger was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The adult driver of the truck was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Heid will be making his first court appearance in Kindersley on December 19, 2023. The release does state the investigation is still ongoing.
