With September on the horizon, the Kindersley Klippers are getting geared up for another season of hockey.

The junior hockey team welcomed a new coach this year with Clayton Jardine leading the team as head coach, and Tyler Orr staying on board as the team's assistant general manager and face of marketing.

The Klippers, who made it through the first round of playoffs last year, will be looking to start the season strong with some new strategies implemented by Jardine.

He said that they will be focusing their attention on speed and discipline.“The game is trending where power-plays are a really important part of the game,” said Jardine. He added that referees are starting to clamp down on hooking and holding, therefore we are starting to see some of the smaller guys with speed and agility become more and more important. This is where Jardine hopes to capitalize in the 2018-19 season.

Jardine won’t be the only new face fans will see this year. The team is welcoming twin brothers, Nate and Clay Keeley from the Drumheller Dragons, to the team. The Keeley brothers are bringing experience from over 200 games played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Jardine added that besides the on-ice talent, the brothers will also be bringing leadership to the team as well.

The Klippers will be welcoming 40 players to this years training camp which will start August 31. After which, the team will be vying for their first win of the season in the season opener game in mid-September against the Battlefords Stars.
