The Kerrobert Bakery and Coffee Bar will be helping the local sports community this Halloween by raising money with help from KidSport.

KidSport is a national non-profit organization that gives financial support to families who are less able to afford sports activities and equipment for their children. Tammy Krahn, the owner of the Kerrobert Bakery, helps to explain.

“If parents can’t afford equipment or the fees to join a sports team, then KidSport helps with that, with cash I believe.”

As part of a yearly tradition for the bakery, any children who happen to stop by on the 31st will be able to enjoy a free hot dog.

While the bakery has been handing out Halloween hot dogs for several years now, this will be the first time they’ve worked with an organization to help raise money for Kerrobert’s sports community.

“This is the first time we’ve done this so I don’t really have any goals; I guess we’re just gonna see what happens. We’ve been handing out hot dogs, I think this is our fourth year, for Halloween, so we’re hoping that everyone who comes in for free hot dogs will also bring, even just a toonie to drop in.”

While Krahn may not have a specific milestone in mind for the fundraiser, she is hoping to be able to raise a few hundred dollars.
