Minor athletics will be in the spotlight come early November at the West Central Events Centre. KidSport's goal is to make playing sports more accessible to young athletes, and that's why specific games on the SJHL calendar this year will be in support of keeping kids active.

For the tenth season, SaskEnergy, KidSport Saskatchewan, and the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) are coming together for a good cause.

“Goals for KidSport is an important initiative for SaskEnergy that not only achieves its commitment to supporting children and youth, it also highlights the Corporation’s role as the Champion of Volunteers,” said Dustin Duncan, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy. “In this key collaboration with SJHL and KidSport Saskatchewan, SaskEnergy has the opportunity to contribute to vibrant and active communities throughout the province.”

The program sees SaskEnergy donating $20 to KidSport for every home goal scored during the SJHL season (up to 1000 goals). Dedicating a night to each team gives SaskEnergy a chance to celebrate volunteers as well who find themselves in the running for the Volunteer Champion Award.

"The Goals for KidSport program has raised more than $230,000 and has supported more than 1,100 youth athletes across the province since its inception in 2013." said the release as all money raised during the Game Nights will stay in the home team’s community.
