The last two times the Kindersley Klippers played the Humboldt Broncos, they entered the third period with a 1-0 lead with the earlier instance ending in a 2-1 shootout loss, and the next resulting in a 7-2 blowout loss. Tuesday night's action was close to the second meeting as the Klippers gave up goals early and often on their way to a colassal 8-0 loss.

It only took 50 seconds for the Broncos to take the lead. League leading Connor McGrath entered the zone down the right side of the ice and drove towards the net, and he one handed a back hand towards the net, and Braiden Koran crashed the net for a shot, started to fall, and potted his own rebound into the back of the net.

Shortly after that, Ethan Hilbig was called for cross checking after a battle in front of the net in his own zone and sent the #2 ranked powerplay in the league on to the ice. On that powerplay, but they only needed the faceoff to score. To the left of goaltender Brett Sweet, Alec Saretzky won the draw back to Noah Barlage who sent it d-to-d to Matthew Perkins, and he sent a pass right through the slot to Connor McGrath who fired the puck to go up 2-0 after only 2:19 of play.

Just after five minutes in the Broncos extended their lead again after Koran sent a pass up ice for McGrath who went in on a 2-on-1 with Alex Morozoff. McGrath to Morozoff, Morozoff right back to McGrath, and he scored his second goal in the game only three minutes after scoring his first.

For the next ten minutes, things settled down and the Klippers had a scarce few chances, the best of which saw Charles Obobaifo get gifted a very short breakaway when he intercepted a pass at the top of the circles. He cut in from left to right and tried to tuck the puck in around the pad of Rayce Ramsay, but Ramsay ran Obobaifo out of room until his eventual shot had to go wide. The Klippers also killed off a penalty when Noah Lindsay went to the box for tripping.

With less than five minutes left in the period, the Broncos scored once more and again it was a familiar name when the Broncos were on the forecheck and Lucas Ceccarelli picked up the puck on the half wall and swung a shot towards the net. The rebound popped out to Koran who tapped it in for his second rebound goal of the game.

After 1: Klippers 0 - 4 Broncos, shots 13-6 Broncos

The second period started much the same as the first with the Broncos scoring a goal in the first two minutes. Defenceman Nicksha Eric drove the puck down the left side of the ice and flipped a shot towards the net one his backhand, and Koran driving the net scored his third goal of the night, all three coming off of rebounds.

After the goal, the Klippers got a powerplay when Kade Olsen was called for interference, and with 30 seconds left in his penalty he was joined by Lucas Cecarrelli after he was nabbed for tripping, and the Klippers were able to get a few chances on the 5-on-3 before it ended, but overall the powerplay fell short and especially so when it was 5-on-4. There was also some 4-on-4 in the period where the Klippers looked solid, but still nothing that got through.

One great chance for the Klippers came off the stick of Noah Lindsay when he got a cross crease pass and was robbed by the diving outstretched blocker of Ramsay, and Jaxon Georget picked up the rebound behind the net for a wrap around to the other side while Ramsay was still down, but a defender got a stick in the way in time to deflect any danger away.

Nathan DeGraves took a holding call 11 minutes into the period, and a minute later the Broncos had their next goal. With the Broncos working the puck around behind the net on the man advantage, Saretzky would get control along the goal line to Sweet's left, and he fired a pass right in front of the crease to Matthew Perkins for the Broncos second powerplay goal of the game.

After 2: Klippers 0 - 6 Broncos, shots 10-8 Klippers in the period, 21-16 Broncos overall

Overall, the third period felt a little flat. The Broncos had taken the foot off the pedal a bit, the Klippers had started to show their frustrations with a couple extra whacks after a play or a smack of the stick on the ice, and with two powerplays in the period, they couldn't crack the ice.

The closest scoring opportunity for the Klippers actually came on the penalty kill when Noah Barlage had the puck behind the net and came out towards the left a little too slow and Noah Lindsay swatted at his stick, hitting the side of the net.

The Broncos turned up the pressure near the end of the period and scored twice. The first came 16:53 in when Matthew Perkins hustled after a loose puck against Ethan Hilbig, and while Hilbig got their first, Perkins lifted his stick and took the puck with no room to shoot and instead backhanded it into the slot to a streaking Alec Saretzky for the one timer.

The final goal came less than a minute later when Connor McGrath got the puck down the right side of the ice and made a similar play to Perkins' assist on the goal before: Driving towards the net, man on him, not enough room to shoot, so a backhand pass towards the slot that Alex Morozoff was able to score.

FINAL: Klippers 0 - 8 Broncos, shots 11-8 Broncos in the period, 32-24 Broncos overall

The Klippers will have to forget about this one for a quick turnaround as they look to take on the Notre Dame Hounds Wednesday afternoon at 1pm in Kindersley.
