The Saskatchewan RCMP have released an update via a news release on the increased police presence in Kindersley last Friday.

"Saskatchewan RCMP’s Kindersley detachment, Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team and Critical Incident Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Kindersley in relation to a firearms investigation. Officers located and seized an airsoft handgun, a loaded magazine, ammunition, approximately 12 grams of cocaine, approximately 5.5 gram of methamphetamine, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia. Two males were arrested at the residence."

As a result of further investigation, a 34-year-old male from Kindersley was charged with one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The other male was released without charge.

The male appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on January 29, 2024.

The RCMP continues to investigate.

WestCentralOnline has reached out to the Kindersley RCMP after an increased police presence in town Friday morning. Multiple reports shared that RCMP units were setup around 1st Avenue W in the community, with no indication as to why.

Kindersley Staff Sgt. Kevin Peterson confirmed no danger to the public, and that it was a pre-planned event.
