Hockey Canada announced that there will be changes to the traditional names of hockey divisions across the province.

Beginning the 2020-2021 hockey season, all minor and female hockey programs under the Hockey Canada umbrella, will switch from their current terms, to being referred to by their age divisions.

According to Hockey Canada, in an effort to make hockey more inclusive, categories such as peewee, bantam and midget will be no longer. These will be replaced by age designations from U7 to U21.

This new naming system is also being implemented in the hopes of making things easier for parents. All levels of minor hockey will have a more consistent reference for parents registering their children.

Actual divisions will remain consistent with past seasons, with the only change being the new naming format.
