CFS Alsask is the official name for the structure off Highway 7 west that many just refer to as the 'golf dome'.

What many of those same people probably don't know, is that opportunities to actually go inside the west-central Saskatchewan landmark exist every long weekend. With another one on the horizon, Fred Armbruster and the rest of the Canadian Civil Defence Museum And Archives team are gearing up for another day of tours at CFS Alsask.

The tour consists of a short lesson before entering each level of the facility. Armbruster does his best to showcase their work done to get CFS Alsask to it's current state, complete with restored vehicles from the area spread throughout the yard.

If you have a valid drivers license, there's even a chance to get behind the wheel of a military truck:

The tour day is Sunday, August 6, for Heritage Day Weekend. Groups will congregate for tours at each 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. To attend you must pre-register through their Facebook page, or by emailing info@civildefence.ca.

As always admission will be by a donation of your choosing, and they are asking that anyone attending show up at least 15 minutes early and wear closed toe shoes.
