School divisions within the province will soon have access to a new training program.

The ‘Respect in School,’ course is an extension of the ‘Respect in Sport’ training which all school coaches and assistant coaches-both faculty and non-faculty, are required to take.

The online training will be available at no cost to schools over the next two years. It aims to provide the education necessary for school leaders to understand, prevent and respond to bullying, harassment and discrimination.

The programs were created by the Respect Group, co-founded by Sheldon Kennedy, former NHL’er and abuse survivor.

The 90 minute training course will cost the Ministry of Education $100,000 annually.
