The RM of Mariposa has issued a town fireban which is effective immediately.

Due to the large amount of crops in fields near the town boundaries, and the very dry temperatures during the spring season, it is in best interests of all farmers and citizens in the town that a fireban is the best solution at the moment.

The RM of Mariposa isn't certain how long this fireban will last, and are hoping for the dry areas around the town to absorb some water. The weekend forecast is calling for some rain, and possibly snow, as well which is just a start to solve the fireban.

Kathy Wurz, a member from the administration office, believes that if the weather is cooperative with solving the fireban problems this weekend, the fireban could be lifted earlier on of next week. However, the town is prepared to be patient with the weather, and know that the fireban is the right way to go about things.
