Earlier this week, the Rural Municipality of Chesterfield No. 261, RM of Mariposa, the Town of Eston and the Village of Coleville, issued a fire ban for the entire community.

West Central Online spoke with a Rosetown's Fire Chief Dennis Ogg, who explained when fire ban's are put in place.

"They are based off the weather, whats left in the fields that kind of thing. Farmers are much better judging that than I am, I rely on them to advise me."

Ogg mentioned that the communities town council and fire department will come together, to determine if a fire ban is appropriate for their region at that time. He also commented that there are no fines in place, however fire bans are put in place for the safety of the residents.

Until further notice, residents in the RM of Chesterfield,  RM of Mariposa, the Town of Eston and the Village of Coleville are advised to not start any campfires, open burning barrels and so on.
