The murder trial for Greg Fertuck has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Fertuck has been accused of killing his estranged wife Sheree Fertuck.

Ms. Fertuck disappeared on December 7, 2015. The case marks a rare instance of charges of murder being laid despite the fact that Ms. Fertuck's body has never been recovered. Investigators and prosecutors believe they have gathered enough evidence to deem the case a homicide.

The Kensaston area mother appears to have gone missing from a gravel pit near the town. A truck Ms. Fertuck was driving was found abandoned at the nearby gravel pit with her keys and cell phone left inside.

The trial was suppose to begin yesterday, March 29th, but was delayed by Justice Richard Danyliuk. Judge Danyliuk noted that the rise in variants of the COVID-19 virus, and the restrictions on travel would make it difficult to conduct the trial safely.

Specifically the Judge noted that a number of witnesses from the Regina area would be required to attend in person to ensure the trial would be fair.

The 5-week trial has been rescheduled to begin on September 7th.

Mr. Fertuck is facing a first degree murder charge and a charge of indignity to human remains.
