Last weekend in Conquest Saskatchewan the capitals held their sixth annual Fastball Tournament. With an estimated 150 to 200 fans in attendance, the beer gardens were full and the food truck was busy. It was clear there was no shortage of good times.

The tournament originally held six teams but due to unforeseen complications, they ended up dropping down to four. The teams that did show up were the Capitals, the Conquest Coyotes, the Saskatoon Merchants and a Midget boys team from Shellbrook.

Jordy Jones, the centre fieldsman for the Capitals gives us a rundown of how the tournament was structured.

"In the past, we've done it where everybody plays everybody and then maybe we have a final, depending on how tired everybody's pitches are. So this year we said we can have a final, so we did a bracket style. Which meant one team was out after two games and one team ended up playing five, which was us."

It was a hard fought tournament with the predicted rain being a no show and the sun turning up the heat, but that didn't stop Connor Ogilvie the shortstop for the Capitals from wishing for a little bit of a drizzle.

"Kinda liked to get rained out but we didn't get rained out. Like I said, weather was good, beer gardens were good and everything else was great."

The Capitals ended up taking the win against the Saskatoon Merchants to end a hard and rewarding day.

The Capital next take on the Saskatoon Merchants on June 10. The game get's underway at 6:45 pm at Bob Van Impe Stadium.
