The Canadian Red Cross in Saskatchewan is looking for your help.

They are in need of volunteers throughout Saskatchewan and the west central area who are willing to take training and help out with emergency situations and disaster response.

Vice President of the Canadian Red Cross Saskatchewan branch, Kim MacLean.

"Just because of this COVID environment, things still happen. People still have house fires, disasters like flooding still happen, this spring we had a wildfire. We still need to be able to be ready to deliver those services and we're working very hard to make sure that we can still deliver those services and do it safely."

Training would include first aid training, as well as training to fulfill various roles within the organization. Volunteers will take turns being on call, and will attend a variety of virtual exercises and activities.

"Our organization wouldn't be able to do what we do without having volunteers. We really count on volunteers to support us in that delivery. We recognize the value of our volunteers; we want them to know that they are such an important part of our organization. We wouldn't be able to do our work without them."

MacLean goes on to say volunteering is a great way to meet new people, and a great way to help those in need. You will also learn a plethora of new skills through a variety of training courses. At the moment, much of their training and meetings are held virtually.
