After over a month of recovery from a shoulder injury, Kindersley’s Dakota Buttar came back stronger than ever and won the PBR Moose Jaw event.

Buttar’s last performance was April 12-14 in Billings Montana where he went two for three and finished in 17th place. Reports state Buttar sustained a “potentially season-ending” shoulder injury that kept him off the circuit until his recent showing in his home province of Saskatchewan.

In addition to the PBR Moose Jaw event being his first showing since his injury, it also marked his Canadian debut for 2019.

In the opening round, Buttar beat the buzzer, lasting the full eight seconds and earned himself 85 points, which landed him fifth overall and a spot in the championship round.

The second round, Buttar nearly hit his first 90 point ride of the year but fell just half a point shy with an 89.5, which secured his number one spot in the event.

Buttar earned $3400 along with 305 Canadian and 60 world points, moving him from #41 in the world rankings to #38, three spots out of qualifying for the PBR World Finals.

After his first event on Canadian soil, Buttar is now ranked #22 in the Canadian national standings.
