UPDATE 5:30 pm: An adult male and female have been found deceased after RCMP entered a home on the 1000 block of 1st Street West. RCMP managed to enter the home around 3:00pm this afternoon. No one else was found in the home.

With a clearer picture, local RCMP members believe there is no further risk to the public.

Residents in the area will continue to see a heavy police presence. Major Crimes are now on the scene to begin their investigation. The RCMP will be maintain a perimeter at the home while the investigation continues.

 

UPDATE: 3:15 pm - The Sun West School Division has stated that each school will individually determine when and how to end the lockdown. Systems are in place which ensure parents are notified and specific protocols will be in place for each school as we near the end of the school day. 

 

UPDATE: 2:30 PM - RCMP have stated that all necessary resources have been deployed and will remain on scene until the situation has been resolved. 

Law enforcement is still asking the public to stay clear of the area to ensure emergency vehicles can access the area.

Additionally, the Saskatchewan Health Authority stated as of 1:30, the Kindersley and District Health Centre is still under lockdown. The exception to the lockdown would only be provided for emergency vehicles bringing patients to emergency or patients who require emergency services.

 

UPDATE: 12:30 pm - The RCMP have confirmed that a firearm was discharged in a residence on 1 St W, north of the Kindersley Hospital earlier today. It was reported that one individual fled the residence and called police and officers were immediately deployed to the scene.

RCMP established a perimeter from Highway 21 to the north, Highway 7 to the west, south to the Kindersley Hospital and east to Main St.

West Central Online reporters also saw Town of Kindersley vehicles arriving at the perimeter to set up blockades. Armed officers were also seen monitoring the perimeter.

Currently, investigators are working to determine who discharged the firearm, secure the residence and determine if there are any other individuals in the residence.

Residents can continue to expect a heavy police presence in the area and are asked to avoid the area and respect all direction given by officers on the scene.

Kindersley schools continue to be under lockdown and the Heritage Manor, locatetd on the 900 block of 1 St W, is also under a lockdown. 

Two residents in the nearby neighborhood stated the police had not talked to them directly and they had not heard or seen anything unusal or alarming preceeding this morning's events.

UPDATE: 11:24 am - The RCMP have since set up a perimeter at the scene, and are continuing to secure the location.

A "Hold and Secure" protocol is underway at all schools in Kindersley,and theHeritage Manor is currently under lockdown.

December 12, 2019, 10:15 am -The Kindersley RCMP stated they are dealing with an active emergency on 1st Street West north of the Kindersley Hospital. We are asking all residents in the area to stay inside their homes and stay away from the area.
