The Kenaston Blizzards and Kindersley Klippers battled it out in a winner take all game three at the WCEC in Kindersley Wednesday night.

Kindersley got on the board first on a goal by veteran Jessey Pocock on a nice shot down the left wing side to make the score 1-0 for the boys in blue. Undeterred, the Blizzards came back and tied the score at one, with captain Garett Bembridge starting his big night getting on the board.

But the Klippers Jon Calkins answered back with a howitzer down the left wing side just fresh off a line change and beat goaltender Tyler Peterson to give Kindersley a 2-1 lead. This was despite the Blizzards outshooting Kindersley 20-7 in the opening period.

The second period saw the Klippers double their lead, with big Adam Antkowiak scoring to make the score 3-1, the assist went to Calkins. But just like the night before Kindersley could not hold onto the lead, as game two overtime hero Levi Cable made it 3-2. Then just before the period ended Bembridge got his second of the night to tie things up at three.

The Kenaston captain completed his hat trick in the first minute of the second to give the Blizzards a 4-3 lead. Then with Kindersley pushing for the equalizer, the team took an unfortunate penalty running the goalie behind the net. Kenaston made them pay right away, scoring just 16 seconds into the powerplay, as Kyle Haines made the score 5-3, a lead they would not relinquish.

Kindersley was outshot 48-27 overall and if it wasn't for the splendid goaltending of Logan Drackett, it could have been a lot more lopsided. The double overtime loss the night before really took the wind out of the sails of the Klippers, and the team pretty much was on fumes so, it was a gutsy effort by the boys in blue and they should not put their heads down.

The team can now focus on league playoffs, as game three between the Hafford Hawks and Kindersley Klippers is Friday at 8:00 pm from the WCEC.

Kenaston will play Watrous in the semi finals of senior A provincials.
