Family programs at the Biggar and District Family Centre are getting a boost thanks to CIF (Community Initiatives Fund) and their latest grant intake.

A recent release shared that $25,000 will be going towards family programs, this coming after January 2023 funding, when the group received $20,000 towards their Parent and Child Support Program.

Pictured above (middle) is Executive Director for the Biggar and District Family Centre Holly Huser. Ecstatic to be included in another round of funding Huser shared what the $25K will be going towards.

"We were absolutely floored by the news. CIF has always been an integral part of our programming, and we couldn't do what we do without them, but for us to receive this amount of money, was completely amazing." shared Huser. "We are launching several new programs including an adult life skills course, parent support group and music classes for ages 2-6. We are also expanding some of our more popular programs including Kids Art Club, Teen Group and Clothing Exchange."

The facility always seems to have something on the go. Huser shared that this past fall presented one of their more popular activities, Kids In The Kitchen.

"Where kids in grades 4-6 can learn how to cook healthy meals that they can share with their families." said Huser, sharing that another session will be offered in the spring.

"We also continued on with some of our classic programming including Mother Goose (a toddler program that focuses on learning through books, crafts and play) and Coffee Group, which is a chance for parents to get together and have some adult conversation while their kids get to play in the centre."

Huser has been so impressed with the community feedback over the years, and can't wait to keep it going down the road.

"We are very excited to launch our new programming and see the communities reaction to them. We have so much planned, and because of this amazing grant we can really offer our community an unbelievable experience this year!"

Outlook and Unity were also included in the most recent CIF release. Read more in the related articles below.
