The West Central Junior Curling District Championships were recently held over the weekend in Strongfield. A big thanks goes out to the community, as well as Loreburn for hosting this year's event. West Central High Schools Athletic Association President Lance Morrison shared the following results.

The best-of-three girls competition took place between Rosetown and Dinsmore. Rosetown won the first game, and Dinsmore won the second. The third game came down to the last rock in the last end, as Rosetown was up 1 with the hammer, but Dinsmore was lying 2. From there Rosetown skip Taya Green would capitalize on her last rock to win the district championship.

In the mixed competition there were three teams competing, Loreburn, Beechy and Dinsmore. Dinsmore defeated Loreburn, and then defeated Beechy. Beechy and Loreburn played in the 'B' side final with Beechy winning knocking Loreburn out. Then the next day Beechy and Dinsmore played off in the 'AB' final, with Dinsmore needing to win the game and Beechy needing to beat Dinsmore twice. Beechy would come out playing very well and defeat Dinsmore in both games to claim the District Mixed Curling title. The second game would also come down to the last rock.

The boys competition had two teams from Dinsmore and one from Outlook. The Outlook team defeated both the teams from Dinsmore, leading the pair of teams from Dinsmore to face off in the 'B' final. From there the final game unfortunately had to be moved, and will be completed on Wednesday.

No photos from those teams are available thanks to the postponement, but here is a look at another west central school who actually saw their hardware from earlier in the school year recognized.

West Central Online will continue to have coverage of school sports when it is available.
