A few local West Central Wheat Kings, and Western Prairie Thunder AA teams saw their seasons come to an end over the weekend.

The U13 AA Thunder's SFHL season is over after a 2-1 loss in Game 3 of the second round to the Saskatoon Comet Hurricanes. The U15 Thunder's season is also over, after the north division's top seed was upset by Warman in a two-game sweep. Finally, the U18 Thunder forced a deciding Game 3 in their first round series against Prince Albert, but an 8-0 score sent the Thunder home for the year.

Switching to the AA Wheat Kings, it was a heartbreaking loss looking at the U18 squad. Needing a win on home-ice back on Friday night, the Wheat Kings won 2-1 over Prince Albert to force a Game 3. That lead them back to Prince Albert the next night, as another tight finish saw the Wheat Kings opponent moving onto the next round with a heartbreaking 4-3 final. The U15 Wheat Kings did not qualify for the postseason.

The U13 Wheat Kings are still alive, currently down 1-0 in their first round series against the Saskatoon Fury. The Wheat Kings took a 12-5 loss on the road to the Fury, and will look to rebound in Game 2 on Friday evening at 5:15 in Kindersley. As you can see below, the Wheat Kings are in the Championship Final bracket.
