The residents of Wilkie recently joined forces on social media for their a chance to win $25,000.

New to the Fuel Up To Win contest, this year 562 communities across Western Canada were given the opportunity to be included in the February 2019 game card. The communities took to social media for the better part of November, sharing hashtags on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram which counted as votes for their town.

Wilkie residents banded together and ended up placing in the top 25 which not only puts them on the game card for this upcoming year, but also keeps the hope alive to be in the top spot and win the $25,000 grand prize.

“It was really great to see the whole community come together and put in the effort for those votes, and now there is the opportunity they could win $25,000 which could be a big help for many community projects including construction of the outdoor pool,” said Kelsie Valliere, communications manager for Delta Co-op Association.

The new contest is in thanks to an eight-year-old from Oak Bank, Manitoba. He noticed his small town was not on the game card and sent in a handwritten letter to the company stating that maybe they could add it next year. Now thanks to Devin and voting by the residents of Wilkie, they could be accepting a big cheque in the near future.

The grand prize winner will be announced February, 2019.
