The Elrose byelection is later this month and there are two candidates who have entered in to become the town's next mayor.

Resident Douglas Martin and Elrose deputy mayor and councillor Dane MacDonald are in the running for the position. Voters will be able to make their choice for who they would like to see as their new mayor on a couple of different dates.

An advance poll will be set up on Thursday, October 11th between 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at Elrose Scout Hut. Election Day is on Wednesday, October 24th at the same location.

Voters are eligible to cast their ballots if they are:

  • a Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years old on Election Day;
  • a resident of Saskatchewan for at least six consecutive months before the election;
  • a citizen of Elrose who resides in the municipality or owned land in the municipality for three consecutive months prior to the election.

Residents must make sure they bring one piece of accepted photo identification or two pieces of other identification including a bill with a physical address.
