The Town of Kindersley is receiving $4,840.00 from Tree Canada's "Tree to our Nature" grant. The Town is using the funding to plant 150 maple and white birch trees along the westernmost end of Railway Avenue and Highway 21.

The following three ceremonial trees have been planted to celebrate the Canada 150 project.

  • a maple, Canada's national tree
  • a white birch, in recognition of Saskatchewan
  • another white birch in recognition of Canada's First Nations people

The Town hopes that the trees will be both a sound barrier and a visual barrier against industrial activity and traffic to improve the atmosphere in the area.

Kindersley Mayor Rod Perkins, Tree Canada's Canada 150 Program Manager Megan Quinn, and the Town's Parks Manager Joe Newling were among those in attended at a short ceremony to commemorate the project.
