The Kindersley Aquatic Centre reopened its doors to the public earlier this month, and with the hot weather coming up in the next few days, the facility is expected to be a busy one, with health guidelines in order of course, due to COVID-19. Tanya Phillips is the interim manager at the Aquatic Centre, and talked about how things have gone since reopening.

"Public swimming has been going good, we have a daily 2:00-5:00 and 7:00- 8:30 in the evening. People have been coming and looks like they are really enjoying it, everybody has been really good about physical distancing. We have sanitation stations set up all over the place, we've got arrows on the pool deck that people are adhering and listening to, things are going good," Phillips said.

Phillips added there will be limitations to the sizes of swimming lesson groups due to COVID-19, as only 4 will be able to be in each class from pre school up to level 4. Caregivers or parents must be in the pool at all times with pre school swimmers.

Phillips also said that swimming lessons are set to begin next week, the lessons are filling up, and you can register for lessons on the town of Kindersley website.

Phillips also wanted to remind residents advanced courses are running this summer as well.

  • National Lifeguard course: August 14-16 & 20-23 (must attend both weekends).
  • National Lifeguard Recert: August 23
  • Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross courses are being planned for the end of August and beginning of September.
