Times have been tough for all of us in the west central area due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but a local resident who hails from Eston had an idea to pass the time and bring a smile to her fellow neighbours. PJ Matchett is a baker in Eston and has encouraged residents to spruce up their windows with teddy bears as a way to bring some cheer to the town.

"I saw it on Facebook actually. I dont even remember what town it came from, but I just thought that would something cool to do here. I think we ended with around 300 teddy bears showing up in the windows," she says. Matchett also talked about how great it was to see the community come together at this particular time. She went out Thursday or Friday to see, there wasn't even that many out then, but it was such a nice feeling after a few days to know that people were actually doing this, you know, to break up all this stuff going on, she added.

Eston CAO Jody Schmidt also talked with West Central Online and explained what other upcoming ideas the Town of Eston is planning.

Schmidt also explained how the town was helping others in this time of need and everyone is coming together to help the ones most vulnerable to this virus and how locals are helping each other out.

For all that is going on in today's world, it is easy to forget the little things, and Eston residents have sure made these tough times easier by starting this teddy bear campaign.

The Town of Eston has not stopped with teddy bears in the windows, as Easter decorations are now being added to windows in the town, and being put on social media.
