The Town of Rosetown will soon be welcoming an already familiar face into a new role within the town.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the town’s Bylaw Official is tasked with ensuring the safety of, and providing education regarding, residents, property and employees through the enforcement of municipal bylaws and provincial statutes in Rosetown.

Rosetown’s Fire Chief, Dennis Ogg, will bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and community awareness with him when he steps into the position. Michele Schmidt, CAO, for the town said that while they are still sorting out all of the details, Ogg will likely begin in April.

“We are excited,” Schmidt commented of the new appointment, adding, “I think his role as Fire Chief will provide him with insight into the job and we are looking forward to him joining our team.”

Ogg mentioned that the new part-time position will not affect his work with the fire department, he plans on continuing to serve the community as a fire fighter on top of being Rosetown’s bylaw officer; something he feels he is well suited for.

“I feel that I can do a good job as I have had 43 years experience in dealing with the public in our community,” shared the long-time resident.

Rosetown has been without a Bylaw Official since the beginning of January when the previous officer stepped down and the town is happy to have Ogg start.

“I am looking forward to the job and doing what I can to contribute to ensure Rosetown continues to be a great place to live and raise a family.”
