The Rosetown & District Carol Festival was held at the Rosetown United Church on Monday night. For another consecutive year, there was a packed crowd in store to watch some groups around the region perform some of the most popular Christmas songs ever created.

The Rosetown Youth Choir made a performance and showed that they have been practicing in the recent weeks. Other performances were done by the Rosetown Central High School Band, Rosetown Alliance Church Choir and Rosetown United Church Choir. Other kids between Grades 2-4 represented the Walter Aseltine Choir, and put on a tremendous show. All members made their own unique presentations that were spread out with joyful Christmas music.

One of the special parts of this event that's organized by the Rosetown Music Festival Association, is that all ages have the chance to perform. From young children to seniors, you see all members of families taking part in the excitement.

Brenda Hamilton, Director for the Rosetown United Church Choir, has been involved with the Carol Festival for over 40 years and continues to be amazed by the talented performers and groups.

"About eight years ago, we started to invite the Outstanding Vocalist, Outstanding Pianist, and the Outstanding Instrumentalist from the Music Festival held in March."

These selected members have the chance to perform a solo performance at what they are best at in front of a full crowd gathered in December as part of their achievement.

Hamilton also talked about how there are minor changes as each year goes by, but the script of the night has remained the same for the last forty years.

"It literally has followed the format. We have a new MC each year, and other thing change around but it is the same script each time."

Hamilton also got a chance to share what her Choir has done for the past several years at this event.

"My choir from the United Church always performs two numbers at the Carol Festival. This year, we were able to play in front of a big crowd and it was satisfying."
