With the percipitation that the west central region has received since September 22, has the RM of Kindersley watching road conditions carefully and the rain today added insult to injury and resulted in road bans issued on all roads within the RM of Kindersley.

The road ban affects heavy haulers and all vehicles that are 10T and over, Pam Wake, cheif safety officer for the RM, said it will likely be in effect for one to two days depending on what the weather does. For those hauling rig equipment, the ban may be longer to let the roads recover as much as possible.

Wake explained that due to the time of year, their main concern is if any damage is done to the roads this close to freeze up, there won't be enough time to fix them and would create less than ideal driving conditions all winter long.

The wet and muddy roads also create slippery conditions that can be unforgiving given the weight of some of the vehicles travelling on them, which not only makes it an infrastructure concern but a safety concern as well.

Wake also stated that they were experiencing technical difficulties with their website, which is where they post all updates on road bans. They were working diligently to resolve the problem and will keep residents and workers updated as soon as they can. She did say however, that they will reassess the road conditions on Monday and make a decision then.

The road ban was put into effect, this morning at 11:00 am.
