The Town of Outlook is saying goodbye to Jordy Jones as he has recently decided to step down from his position as Rec Director.

Jones explained that he made this decision after receiving an opportunity to work in Hockey, which is what he has always wanted to do.

When asked what he enjoyed the most about his time as Rec Director, this is what Jones had to say.

“I came here right out of university, so I didn’t really know what to expect. In the four years I’ve been here there’s been a lot of changes, so we were always doing something new, whether it was the pool or, we had a new wave of younger kids in Outlook, so there’s a lot of kids in minor sports now, so that’s always fun and different.”

Jones also shared an event that really stood out to him.

“I think opening the pool was a really big step here. I didn’t have any experience with swimming pools, so it was a bit trying at times, but it was really fun. Obviously that’s gonna be here for a long time after I’m gone, so that was a fun one to get built. I didn’t have a lot to do with the fundraising part, but once it was built, that’s kinda when I took over.”

As for projects that are still being worked on, Jones stated that he would like to see the town continue working on the outdoor skating rink. The plan is to construct it over the the summer with help from a grant for $130,000 from the Co-op Community Spaces.

Jones explained that he doesn’t know who will be taking his place yet, but said he has high hopes that the town will be able to pick someone qualified for the job.
