Plans to open a new recovery centre for those plagued by addiction are underway for a hopeful opening in spring.

Kayla Mackay and her husband Tanner Perratt, are in the beginning stages of opening Possibilities Recovery Centre. The non-profit centre will provide help to people overcome their addiction through a holistic approach.

Mackay and Perratt recognized a gap in current rehabilitation services, not all people are able to leave work or their life to check into a live-in rehab centre. The couple’s approach for the centre will provide an intensive program based solely on the needs of each individual and their lifestyle, while allowing them to continue their day-to-day responsibilities.

Although Mackay has a background in the paramedic field and also spent time working in a detox centre, Perratt said they have both been touched by addiction and that is why the idea for the centre first came about. The idea coupled with an apparent need in the community has led the project to where it is today.

“Kindersley is a main hub for a lot of people, and with increased substance use in the area along with the transient population that may also require help, either as their first step or a part of their already started recovery process, we felt Kindersley was a great place for the centre,” said Mackay.

The centre is in the beginning stages, the couple has started canvassing to raise money for the centre while looking for a location that will be easy to access yet private for those who may feel skeptical about visiting the centre. Mackay also made mention that finding the right councilors will also be key and are actively searching for those who would make a good fit.

If all goes as planned, Mackay said they hope to be opening the doors in April of next year.
