Multiple communities had the opportunity to address their concerns to local MP, Kelly Block, during her spring tour last week. Block represents the Carlton Trail and Eagles Creek area and started her tour on Monday in Dinsmore, Wiseton and Conquest.

The upcoming carbon tax was a main topic raised by constituents throughout the day. Block’s office reported that the attendees were concerned about the impact of the cost of the carbon tax and how it will impact Canadian competitiveness and would like to see it repealed.

Other conversations within the first three stops of the tour centred around the recent ban on canola imports by China and attendees stated they were worried about the damage may cause to the Canadian canola producers reputation.

Residents also turned Blocks attention towards national politics during the meetings. In an email from Block’s office, it was stated, “Constituents agree that the former Attorney General should be allowed to give her full story. They also agree this scandal involving Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is very serious and support an investigation”.

After wrapping up meetings on Monday, Block continued her tour visiting an additional 13 communities with Lake Lenore being her last stop on Friday afternoon.
