The Kindersley Aquatic Centre will be entering its 1.5 year mark of construction this January with hopes of officially opening to the public in February.

The project which started last July has had the anticipated grand opening moved back a couple times as the Town was initially optimistic of an October opening but has experienced some set backs.

Chantelle Benjamin, aquatics manager, stated that the pools have been filled with water, however, they are still unsure when they will take possession and begin training staff. She added that it is likely they will obtain possession early in the new year, after which, “the Kindersley Aquatic Centre staff will be participating in thorough training so we can make our pool a safe and fun environment,” said Benjamin.

The 21,000 square foot facility has released a pricing schedule to the public recently for those who wanted to include the Centre in their holiday gift-giving. Included in the pricing schedule is a swim – gym membership where residents will be able to take advantage of discounts, if annual memberships are purchased at both the Pool and Anytime Fitness. Additionally, child minding will be offered, although they are still working out the details of the program, Benjamin said it will be available for up to two hours at a time for parents wishing to use the facility on their own, or to partake in classes offered by the Centre. Benjamin added the child minding services will be available for children up to seven-years-old.

Although water has filled the pools, chemicals still need to be added and they need to be balanced. Following gaining possession of the pool and training, Benjamin said they are looking to February for their grand opening to the public, however, no official date has been set at this time.
