Eston’s Communities in Bloom is taking their passion for beauty in their town into the winter months with their Winter Lights Program. The group is encouraging residents to leave their houses decorated with lights from the holidays up until the end of March to help with the winter-blues that can ensue in the latter half of the season.

As residents approach Christmas and New Years, spirits are generally high as residents prepare for the holidays and Christmas lights are a popular addition to the overall joyous demeanour. Val Mohan, Communities in Bloom member, said by people leaving up their lights, it can aid in bringing cheer far after the excitement of the holidays have passed.

Mohan shared that they would love for everyone to participate, however, are grateful for the ones that do as she has received positive comments and feedback from the community about the extra time they have to enjoy the lights.

Mohan said the program has been running for approximately three years.
