On Saturday November 10th the Alsask Outdoor Kids group held a fundraiser. The night consisted of three different escape rooms including one that was slightly scarier down in the bunker.

An escape room is a room where a group of people is locked in a room and have find a solves puzzles in order to escape. Typically the room will follow a theme such as science for example. In a science room all the clues and puzzles would be based around science.

The event was a success.``We were totally full, all three rooms were full all night, and we were able to raise $1,200.00`` explained Sara Wilkie, who heads the Outdoor Kids program.

Earlier in the year the older youth in the program who are called the junior leaders, decided that their adventure of the year would be to go white water rafting. They put on the fundraiser as a way to help make that experience a reality.

Outdoor kids is a program built around the kids and what they want to do, while still teaching kindness. The program is divided into three age groups the adventurers, the explorers and the junior leaders.

To teach the children about kindness the group also services the local community with charitable volunteering and kindness. The group does everything from handing out hugs to setting up and tearing down events at the recreation centre in Alsask.

Wilkie explained one of the acts of kindness the group recently did, ``for Remembrance Day we went to the cemeteries of Alsask, Marengo, and Flaxcombe to put poppies and Canadian flags at the veterans grave sites.``

The Group is always looking for new projects that will help teach the children about kindness as well as community involvement.

Wilkie was very appreciative of all who made the night a success. ``We really appreciate all the support we got and thanks to everyone who came out, hope everyone had fun.``

Currently the group has no other events planned but are focusing on January when the group learns survival skills for winter camping.
