The Saskatchewan government has officially proclaimed that Eating Disorders Awareness Week starts tomorrow and runs until February 7th.

The province is bringing awareness to the issue at the beginning of the month along with over 50 municipalities across the country.

Carla Chabot, Executive Director at BridgePoint Center for Eating Disorders talked about the significance of this week.

BridgePoint Center for Eating Disorders is the province’s lone residential eating disorder program.

The organization is based in Milden, Saskatchewan and is approved and funded by the province to offer care free of charge for anyone with a valid Saskatchewan health card.

Chabot also said in a release “Saskatchewan is fortunate to have the government support for such an important mental illness. It is time to stop the stigma around eating disorders as almost everyone knows someone who has been impacted by disordered eating. There is hope and help right here in Saskatchewan.”

Bridgepoint is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
