With COVID-19 cancelling events all over the place, a wedding may be the last thing on one’s mind.

However, a global pandemic wasn’t enough to stop Greg and Denni Ernst Falk, who were able to hold a small service in late April.

Their original plans were to travel to B.C. in August to have the wedding with family. Afterwards, they would have gone on a trip that had already been paid for. However, thanks to the pandemic, plans had to change.

While the possibility of having to cancel were very real, Greg and Denni were able to put together a small wedding at the Wheatland Regional Centre in Rosetown, with a few nearby friends and family members able to make their way out.

As with everything these days, setting up the wedding still came with a few challenges, as Denni explained.

“Well the location itself wasn’t difficult. We had enough space here to social distance, but all the events leading up to it were challenging. We had to find somebody who would be an officiant, who was willing to do it in this kind of situation. Then we had to go and apply for a marriage license, and find rings. We had pre-ordered some rings quite some time ago. We were lucky enough that we found a nice jeweler in Biggar who was open, and got our marriage license for us, and sold us some nice rings so we wouldn’t have to wait.”

While not the picture perfect wedding every couple dreams of, Greg shared that there were still a few silver linings.

“We were happy we were able to have some family there. It was a really small gathering, obviously. That was one of the benefits, and we really just kinda wanted to get it done because we knew it had to be done.”

The Falk’s used Facebook to live stream the wedding to the rest of their friends and family who were unable to attend.
