All regional heritage fairs in the province of Saskatchewan were cancelled back in March due to COVID-19, but that didn’t mean all hope was lost for middle school students who wanted to show off their regional fair projects. The first ever Virtual Heritage Fair was held for those who would have lost the opportunity to show their projects. A Rosetown girl put out a terrific project, Canadian Connects: World Wars.

The 2020 Virtual Heritage Fair saw an impressive 345 students, grades 4 to 8 from across Saskatchewan, showcase 294 projects they created on Saskatchewan and/or Canadian-based heritage topics. A panel of judges have determined the winners of this year’s first ever Virtual Heritage Fair.

Participants were forced to adapt from the normal in-person heritage fair, to create these projects on a digital platform. The Heritage Saskatchewan website features an all-new viewing interface so everyone can enjoy students’ projects that not only showcase their research skills and knowledge, but also their creative talent. They congratulate the students on all their hard work.
