A pile of goals led to the Rosetown Redwings beating the Stony Plains Eagles twice during the weekend.

The AAA Redwings picked up four points this weekend when they defeated the Stony Plain Eagles 5-4 on Saturday and 9-6 Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, Redwings goaltender Nik Amundrud picked up his 3rd win of the campaign, stopping 19 pucks in the victory. Five different goalscorers found the net that night: Jordan Fransoo, Kyle Ireland, McKenzie Johnston, Brayden Uhrich and Jared Jagow. Jonathan Redlick led the team in points with a pair of assists.

Sunday's goalfest included a hat trick for the home side. Brent Baltus put away three goals and 1 assist, making it nine goals this season for Rosetown in 11 games played. Teammate Jordie Johnston collected a couple markers himself while Jonathan Redlick, Jordan Fransoo, Matt Delahey and Zach Zadorozniak added to the scoresheet.

Despite allowing six goals, goaltender Brody Hoffman made 28 saves on 34 shots.

It was also a heated affair between the two rosters as 27 penalties were called in total during Sunday's game. Even though Stony Plain capitalized on 3 of their 10 powerplay chances, the Redwings took the blowout victory after netting 8 even strength goals.

The two wins are huge for Rosetown who now sit at the top of the Allan Cup Hockey West standings, one point up on the Lacombe Generals, the team hosting this year's Allan Cup tournament.

On the docket for the Redwings is a road trip to Alberta with a couple games this weekend. Saturday, they will be in Lacombe to face the Generals at 7:30 p.m. MT. Then on Sunday, the Redwings play at suppertime against the Innisfail Eagles at 5:00 p.m.
