Members of the hockey community in the west central area are mourning the loss of a local hockey player and dear friend, who tragically passed away this past weekend.

People who knew Brad Barton will have a heavy heart this week as Barton was described as an important person to many, including minor and senior hockey teams across the area.

Barton played hockey mainly with the Outlook Ice Hawks, but had stints on the Kyle Elks, and other Sask Valley League teams.

Memories and tributes have been outpouring online sharing that Barton was the type of man who always had the locker room laughing, and someone that everyone seemed to know.

Since the tragic news surfaced, numerous west central senior hockey teams have expressed their sorrow and condolences through social media

The Dinsmore Dynamos Senior Hockey Club shared, "The SVHL lost a person with unmatched heart for the game of hockey," stating that he loved being a part of the team and touched the lives of many and will not be forgotten, "The SVHL is a better league because of guys like Barton," said the club.

Among countless other posts, the Elrose Aces took to twitter to send condolences to Barton's family and reminisce about the 2013 playoffs, where Barton joined the Aces in their run. "We learned that he was a great goaltender and more importantly, a great human being".
