It has been nearly thirty year since the Lions Club offered the very first Lions Soccer program in Rosetown and it doesn't look like it will be going away any time soon.

This past weekend the kids from Walter Aseltine Elementary School had their Lions Soccer wind-up and Hugh Lees, Lions Club member, said it was a very successful day. " We finish up the year with a tournament where each team plays two games. They get all the hotdogs and juice boxes they can fit into them and each child goes home with a trophy, a metal, or some sort of prize."

This year there were 89 students from WAS who participated in the Lions Club Soccer program. Lees said, "We had a great turn out this year in participants. We never know how many children will be able to play with other activities they have going on but we've had years where are numbers are in the 70 and others when we have over 100 children participating in Lions Soccer."

Lees added, " The best part about Lions Soccer is just being able to come out and watch the kids having so much fun. It's a great way for them to socialize and build on their skills as soccer players."
