The Kindersley Klippers were busy this weekend, coming off of back to back losses against the Battlefords North Stars to start the season.

On Friday, the Klippers took to the ice to face off against the Estevan Bruins at the West Central Events Centre. Estevan took the lead early, with a goal scored by Kersey Reich in the first six minutes, but that would be the only ground the Bruins gained. The Klippers proceeded to finish the first period off with two goals scored by Zach Ziegler and Dawson McKenzie.

Kindersley took two more goals in the second and third periods thanks to Austin Nault and Liam Fraser, ending the game with a final score of 4 – 1.

The action continued on Saturday, when Kindersley took on the Weyburn Red Wings. Things were a bit more even this time, with both Weyburn and Kindersley scoring a goal in the first period, thanks to Kindersley’s Dawson McKenzie, and Weyburn’s Jordin Kojima.

Kindersley proceeded to take two more goals in the second period From McKenzie and Jacob Schnapp. The third period also saw two Kindersley goals, both coming from Austin Nault.  Nault was hauled down on a shorthanded breakaway that allowed him to get his second of the night.  Weyburn also managed a goal in the third, courtesy of Jevon Schwean, bringing the game to an end with a final score of 5 – 2.

The Klippers concluded their weekend by traveling to Warman for the SJHL Showcase.  In game 1 they faced off against the La Ronge Ice Wolves.  The game was a close one heading into the 3rd with La Ronge up 2-1, but a big third period from the ice Wolves saw them take the game 4-2 after the final buzzer.

The Klippers will play their second game of the showcase on Tuesday with a rematch against the Estevan Bruins, before travelling home to welcome the Humboldt Broncos to town on Friday.
