A two-day Junior Boys Basketball Tournament was hosted by Kindersley Composite School this past weekend that featured six clubs from around the region.

Teams began the tournament with a Preliminary game on Friday night to determine seeding for the rest of the draw, and continued playing more games throughout Saturday to determine a tournament champion. The KCS Kobras Black team ended up making it to the final and earned a win over Davidson to be crowned champions.

KCS Junior Basketball has a strong program this year with plenty of interest in the sport. Some players on the team are only dedicated to basketball while other athletes are enrolled in multiple sports like hockey, soccer or some other organized team activity.

This tournament, there was enough players to make two teams to enter into the games, which helped make the draw much simpler.

Angie Johnson, head coach of one of the KCS Kobras teams, told West Central Online how the sport of basketball has grown in the community and it can be a challenge to structure their tournament play with a busy group of athletes.
