University is a large task to take on in your freshman year, especially if you move far away from home. Now add the skilled sport of golf to everything else that's happening.

Brody Istace is doing just that. He was born and raised in Kindersley and now attends Columbia International University which is located in South Carolina. Istace is studying Business with a major in Sport Management while also playing competitive men's golf on the university's team .

The team competed in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) National Championship, played back on October 22-24. The competition was played on the Hammock Dunes Golf Course in Palm Coast, Florida with 13 teams from all over the United States competing.

On day one Istace scored a 77, with his team sitting at 310 placing them in 4th place. On the second day his game was still strong with a score of 82, total score for the team at 312,  which was enough for them to hold onto 4th place. Their healthy standings on the fist two day got them into the finals on October 24th where Istace scored 88, with the total being 328 placing the team in 6thoverall. The teams coach was pleased with the outcome especially after the University hadn't had a team for the last two years.

Istace isn't new to competing in golf as he had previously been playing with GOLFTEC, in Saskatoon, where he tuned his skills over the last six years. This lead to him to be able to compete in the Maple Leaf Juniors which is a competition with young golfers from Saskatchewan and Alberta.
